Pangot - Sattal Birding trip

Suggested Route : Delhi - Ghaziabad - Hapur (Bypass) - Muradabad - Tanda - Kalandungi - Nainital - Pangot - Sigri. ( 320 Kms) , About 8 to 9 hrs drive.

Alternatively - One can drive through Rampur - Bazpur - Haldwani - Kathgodam - Nainital - Pangot - Sigri....

Stay option : Nainital , Pangot , Sattal, Naikuchital, Bhimtal , Saria Tal...

This whole area comes under Naina Devi Bird Reserve and starts from Kilbury road to Pangot and beyond. Its about 15 kms furtherup from the famous Himalaya Darshan point.

The popular birding spots are Kilbury, Pangot, Ghugukhan, Sigri, Vinayak and Kunjakharak.

Usually the tourist rush ends by Pangot and beyond that only limited tourists visit places like Vinayak, Sigri. Ghugukhan, Sigri are small village and has limited accommodation. We stayed at Kempland Nature Resort, Sigri Village. Kampland is located in Sigri Village which is around 25 Kms away from main Nainital Bus stand. Better to visit the place on your own vehiccle, as its far away from the city. Taxis are available. One can just enjoy the sunshine, bonfire, the nature, treks, birding and the night jungle safari here . The food and accomodation is good. Being a remote area carnt wish for more a luxury.

They have 7 Huts and adjacent to them is Camp Sigri run by KMVN. These are again tented accommodation. Beyond Vinayak till Kunjakharak is dense forest and one can sight Cheer pheasant, Koklaas pheasant, khaleej pheasant and many resident and migratory birds too.

There are lots of walking trails around and one can also do night safari to look for Leopoard, barking deer, Mountain goats, fox etc.

One must not miss the spectacular view of Himalayas...

Important info : Idea, Airtel, Vodafone barely works in these region...

So ideal spot for a peaceful vacation sans mobile and laptops...
