It is a quaint and less explored hill station in Uttarakhand. The roads are well connected and apart from spectacular views and refreshing fresh air there is nothing much to do or see here. Thick oak and blue pine forests make up to the top, and at 1,700 mts above sea level the temp dips to a pleasant one. The Garhwal rifles division of the Indian army is stationed here. Named after Viceroy Lord Landsdowne, one can enjoy a lazy vacation here relaxing, withe the valley views, Himalayas and sunset. For boating or picnics the Bulla lake is the place. Located just 250 kms from Delhi, its much neat and non-commercialised compared to other hill stations. Many old buildings and churches from the British colonial times catch your attention.
A peaceful place to contemplate, adventure activities like trekks and bird watching can be done too.
To see
We preferred staying a little away before Landsdowne main town. Hotel Rio Resort is 19 kms before Landsdowne and They have wooden cottages along side a small stream. The wooden log huts had all facilities and kids enjoyed playing in the stream. We were able to walk upstream wading through the ankle deep water and was fun. Enroute we could see garbage and beer bottles smashed to pieces on the rocks, which was a pity as the cleanliness of this beautiful place is each of our responsibility. Our kids would love playing in the water, but we are making it impossible for them with such small acts of ignorance.
