Tips Planning an Adventure Holiday with Family


Before having an adventurous holiday keep a note of the below points to make your trip comfortable.


  • Do your homework - find your most comfortable attire, footwear and other equipments to carry with you.
  • Keep a note on the weather conditions - expected/unexpected depending upon the topography of the area.
  • Check availability of drinking water and food
  • Nearest points of medical aids in case of emergencies
  • Common ailments that onemight experience such as altitude sickness, nausea, motion sickness etc and also the basic knowledge of first aid
  • Check the credentials and experience of the professional you are traveling with
  • Plan, Prepare and Equip before you set out
  • Adventure tours should be conducted under the supervision of trained personnel
  • The instructors are trained and experienced and you safety is their prime concern so follow the instructions of the instructors to avoid accidents
  • The outdoors may sometime be deceptive in mountain areas, a sunny day can turn into a freezing day within hours.
  • At lower altitudes a sudden downpour can leave you soaking wet and at risk of hypothermia.
  • A beautiful and calm looking river might seem very inviting but might have very strong under water current

  • Never go walking alone in case of emergency it might help having someone to do the running around
  • A compass and knowledge of how to use it is also useful.
  • Prepare well and carry warm and waterproof gear even if good weather is forecasted
  • Seek the local advise on weather before setting out
  • Jeans are not the appropriate clothing for hiking
  • Dehydration is an issue in any climate. Carry lots of water with you.
  • If you plan to take water from streams, purify it by boiling it atleast for 3 minutes.
  • Carry sufficient amount of food. Light weight high energy food are best
  • Travel with an open mind and be ready to face the extremes
