Travelogue Photologue How to reach
Shokaliya is about 10 kms from Nasirabad, which is about 150 kms from Jaipur. A little known village near Nasirabad, but is quite popular for the bird watchers as the Lesser Floricans and Great Indian Bustard can be seen here. We stayed at Sneh deep Rest house whose owner Mr Manoj Kulshreshtha is a friend of ours. From the guest house Shokaliya village is 158 kms and takes around 2.5 hrs. Shokaliya village has to be reached early morning for spotting birds. You can drive through the grasslands which is a birders paradise, the villagers too have realised the importance of conserving the birds, after the dwindling population of the bustards. The 120 sq kms grassland has a variety of birds. The Jumping florican can be seen in July and August. Our photologue section has the list of birds we spotted there.
