Without taking a ride on the backwaters of Sindhudurg coastal region your tour to this place is incomplete. The backwaters are the most enjoyable experience as they offer a picturesque stretch of land endowed with beautiful seashore, scenic mountains and pleasing natural beauty. Mentioned below are a few popular places of nature tourism.

Walaval Backwaters
The backwaters of Walaval offer a truly spell binding view of the Tarkali creek. It is situated between the majestic mountains that slope down to meet the stream but in order to see this viwq the visitor has to trek from Mauli temple to one huge rock situated towards the west on the top of the hill. Here visitors turn up in large numbers in summer.

Nerurpar backwaters
The Nerurpar backwater channel at Kudal extends 15 kms from Kudal on the northern end where the water channel is less than 5 feet deep.

Karli backwaters
Tarkali beach and Karli backwaters are the major attraction here with long and narrow stretch of beach, with its pristine waters. On a clear day, you can see the sea bed through a depth of 20ft.

Katwan backwaters
Situated on the western part of Sindhudurg is the Katwan backwwaters. This place gives you serene glimpse of what the backwaters of the west coast re all about. The baot rides can be enjoyed at any time throughout the year.

Aronda-Kiranpani Backwaters
Aronda nestled alongside the beaches of Kerim and Arambol was a busy port in the days of yore. Today this is a small village of Sawantwadi and has milestones of historical and religious charm that can enchant you with its simplicity. If you are the travel bug consider Aronda the coastal corridor to approach all the major temples, beaches and forts in Sindhudurg and Vijaydurg besides North Goa.
