Somnath temple

The to be the first of the twelve jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva. The temple was destroyed several times iin history and ech time it was rebuilt again. The temple is situated at such a place that there is no land in a straight line between Somnath seashore until Antarctica, such an inscription in Sanskrit is found on the Banastambha erected on the sea-protection wall.

Veraval

It is also known for the hub of fishing. Earlier Veraval was the major seaport for pilgrims to Mecca. Seafaring dhows and wooden fishing boats are still built by the fishermen without the use of any modern technology here. Some pics

It is the place where Krishna was hit by an arrow shot by a hunter named Jara, after which he is said to have left the earth for the heavenly abode. Bhalka Teerth is situated almost 4 kilometers away from the Somnath temple. Some pics of the temple
