Cycle rickshaws and autos ply here, which is much easier to travel than using your own vehicles. Shopping
There are many shops selling puja items to clothes, footwears, woolens, medicines, jewellery etc here. There are shopping centers at Jwalapur and Kanakhal and the UP handloom emporium near the Bharat Mata temple. But do visit Barra baazar and Moti baazar for its varied items. Carry home papad, achars, etc and dont miss to fill a bottle of holy Ganga jal (water). Stay in Haridwar
There are many hotel availabe on the banks of River Ganga. One worth staying if your budget is around Rs 5,000 is Haveli Hari Ganga. It is a haveli over 90 years old and was then built by the Maharaja of Jaipur. It is very near to Har ki Pauri. Contact - 01334-265207, 226443. Around Rs 1500/- you can book a room in Modi Inn Ramakrishna Contact - 01334-221715 near the Shiv Murti and if you want a private ghat for yourself then The Sagar Ganga Resort is a good option Contact - 01334-222115. Eating Options in Haridwar
There are lots and lots of eating options in Haridwar. Chotiwala located opposite the Tourism office on the Railway Road is part of the well know eatery. Although you may find lots of Chotiwalas in Haridwar. The food is traditional and tasty, said to be made in ghee. Bestee in the Shiv Murti area has good milkshakes. Brijwasi Mithaiwala is a sweet shop in Barra Bazaar where you can relish pedas, ras malai and other Indian delicious sweets. The chaats and karchoris are also good here.
