How to reach:
The nearest airport is Khajuraho(210 kms). It takes 5 hours to reach the park from Khajuraho. The nearest railway station is Umaria(30 kms). Other important railway stations are Jabalpur(170 kms), Katni(102 kms) and Satna(112 kms). It is also connected by road to Katni, Umaria, Satna and Rewa.

The Fort
The ruins of Bandhavgarh fort, believed to be 2000 years old can be seen on the Bandhavgarh hill.
Tips
Dominating the park is the Bandhavgarh fort and numerous pre historic caves, with inscriptions and drawings by the pre historic man.
This is a small national park and has the highest density of tigers in India. White Tigers are also found here. Other animal species found here are the Indian Bison(gaur), Sambar, Barking deer and Nilgai. It covers an area of 448 sq kms in the Vindhya range, in Shahdol district. The terrain is rocky with swamps and densely-forested valleys.
There are more than 22 species of mammals, and 250 species of birds. The rhesus macaque, the black-faced langur, jungle cats, chinkara, black buck, munjtac and chital can be easily spotted while exploring the park on elephant back. During the winter months, migratory birds, including the steppe eagle and a variety of wildfowl make the park their home. Other animals in the park are cobras, karait, python, turtle and a variety of lizards.

Bandhavgarh National Park
Madhya Pradesh is not called the heart of India only because of its location in the centre of the country. It has been home to the cultural heritage of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainisim and Islam. The National Parks of Kanha, Bandhavgarh and many others you can spot the tiger, the bison and a wide variety of deers and antelopes.
