Pathanamthitta
Pathanamthitta can be called the land of pilgrimage. Pathanamthitta is nourished by three west flowing rivers -Pamba, Manimala and Achankovil. It abounds with natural splendours - undulating hills, dark mysterious forests, exotic wildlife and enchanting valleys.

Alappuzha
Often called the 'Venice of the East' and situated on the Vembanad lake, the town's commercial centre lives in a maze of cannals. These backwater channels provide the best gateway to expolre the countryside.  Yes this is the centre of backwater cruises in Kerala. The Nehru trophy boat race is held here on the 2nd saturday in August.  Alappuzha has a lighthouse, which is a major tourist attraction.


Kottayam
This is a prominent commercial centre with palm fringed backwaters on the west. A true topical diversity adorned with backwaters, green paddy fields, rubber plantations and palmgroves are the special attractions of Kottayam.  Kottayam town is flanked by the Meenachil river and Kodoor river and Vembanad lake.



Idukki
Idukki is the largest District of Kerala. Mountains and forests cover 95% of Idukki. Anamudi, the highest peak in India south of Himalayas. The Periyar, Thodupuzhayar and Thalayar are the important rivers of the district. Idukki has the largest arch dam in India, the Idukki Dam. This district has several protected areas including: Periyar Tiger Reserve in the south, Kurinjimala Sanctuary to the east, Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary to the north east, Eravikulam National Park and Anamudi Shola National Park to the north, Pampadum Shola National Park to the south and Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary in the west.


Ernakulam  
Ernakulam is the urban part of Kochi. The district includes the city of Kochi, an important seaport. The Periyar River, Kerala's second longest, flows here along with the  Muvattupuzha River and a branch of Chalakkudy River.  A Long island is located in near Ernakulam known as Vypeen island about 25 km long. Cherai Pooram is famous festival in island.


Thrissur
It is known as the 'cultural capital of Kerala'. It is famous for the Thrissur Pooram (festival) and has a large number of well-known temples. Thrissur is widely acclaimed as the land of elephant lovers.


Palakkad  
Palakkad has a large irrigation dam built on the river Bharathapuzha at the base of the hills of the Western Ghats. The Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is homefor elephants, wild boar, sambar, bison, guar, crocodiles, and a few tigers and panthers. The Silent Valley National Park is known for the rare Lion-Tailed Macaque. Nelliyampathy Known as the Ooty of Kerala has dark evergreen forests. 


Malappuram   
This place still has the ruins of an ancient fort built by Tipu Sultan. At Kottakkunnu one can see traces of the first fort to be built by the Zamorins of Kozhikode. The temples and the mosques of this district are well-known for their spectacular festivals


Kozhikode   
It is the third largest city in Kerala.  In the year 1498 Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama landed at Kappad, about 25 km from Calicut city. There are many number of rivers and lakes in the district. Chaliyar puzha, Kallayi Puzha, Korapuzha, Poonoor puzha, and Iravanjhi puzha are some amongst them.  Beypore is famous for its ancient shipbuilding industry, which constructed uru, the traditional trading vessels of Arabs.


Wayanad   
Known as the 'The Land of Paddy Fields'. One important characteristic feature of this district is the large adivasi population, consisting mainly of Paniyas, Adiyas, Kattunayakan and Kurichiyans. The Kabini River, one of the three east flowing rivers of Kerala, is an important tributary of the Kaveri River.


Kannur   
Theyyam is the famous performing art of Kannur. Kannur is also famous for its beautiful virgin beaches. Another attraction of Kannur is the Handlooms. Kannur was an important port on the Arabian Sea which carried out trade with Persia and Arabia. Payyambalam Beach is the famous beach in Kannur town.


Kasaragod
Kasaragod is the one of the most beautiful districts in Kerela state with 11 rivers,  forts, beaches, hills and backwaters. Other tourist attractions are the Chandragiri Fort, Anandashramam, Malik Deenar Masjid, Valiyaparamba backwater and Kareem forest park - the only man made forest in the Kerala.

The rich past of Kerala says that  Arabs referred Kerala as the land of pepper. Around 1000 B.C., Jewish King Solomon sent ships to the port of Ophir to buy timber, sandalwood, ivory, and other things for the construction of his temple in Jerusalem. Many historians believe Ophir is a city on the Kerala coast: either it is Bepur near Kozhikode, or it is Puvar near Thiruvananthapuram. Egyptian trade also dates as far back as the third millenium BC. Cinnamon from Kerala was used to embalm the dead bodies of the pharaohs, and also in the manufacturing of perfumes and holy oils.

Thiruvananthapuram
The capital city of Kerala is one of the beautiful states of India. The city of Thiruvananthapurampresides over one of the most scenic states, stretching along the southern coast of the country, with the backwaters of the Arabian sea reaching deep into the countryside. This city once formed a part of the kingdom of Travancore which had its capital at Padmanabhapuram (now in Tamilnadu). Most of the royal heritage of fine buildings and palaces now housesthe state secretariat and other offices. In and around there are a lot of places to see in Thiruvananthapuram.    


Kollam
Quilon is an old seaport on th banks of the Ashtamudi lake. It is one the major industrial and commercial centres of Kerala. It is the nerve-centre of Kerala's cashew industry.There are some historic remains and the temples are built in ornate style. The sheltered recess of the calm Arabian sea is the "THIRUMULLAVARAM", is an ideal place for swimming and bathing, and attracts domestic as well as international tourists.
