Coorg

  • Except for the monsoons Coorg can be visited round the year.
  • Do carry some light woolens especially during winters, as days are warm but night are cold.
  • Depending on the time of the year, you can see coffee estates in stages, right from white flowers (Feb to March) to coffee cherries in various stages of ripening ie deep green to cherry red by November-December and its picking (January)
  • Robusta and Arabica are grown in Coorg.
  • Many estates have home stays where you can spend time enjoying walks along the estate paths. Have a booking done in advance.
  • Visit Dubare elephant camp in the morning, set out at 8.00 so that you are there by 9.00. The best part is bathing the elephants which you will miss if youre late.
  • Madikeri town also has the Madikeri fort built by Tipu Sultan  and the Omkareshwara temple of the 1800AD. Abbeys falls is also a good picnic spot.
  • Bird watchers pardise as you can spot birds like - Asian fairy Blue bird, Malabar parakeet, White cheeked barbet, Nuthach,  laughing thrush etc

Mangalore

  • Want to see cobras around, then visit Agumbe in and around the monsoons. You can see them lying on the roofs and open in and around the research station.
  • To know more about Sringeri you can visit - sringeri.net their official website.
  • The beaches in Mangalore are clean and safe.
  • Panambur is a commercialised beach
  • One can also visit Manasa Amusement & Water Park near Pilikula.
  • Pilikula Nisargadhama is a good zoo to take kids to.
