Gaya is 125 kms from Patna. An important Jain and Hindu pilgrimage. Sitauted at the banks of the river Phalgu many hindus visit Gaya to pray for the well being of the departed souls.

Several superfast as well as express trains are available from Delhi, Kokatta, Patna and Varanasi to gaya.

Vishnupad temple
4 kms from railway station is believed to be built on the footsteps of Lord Vishnu.

Deo
98 kms from gaya has a temple to the sun god and site of Chhath puja celebrated in Novemeber.

Pawapuri
95 kms from Patna, 76 kms from Gaya has Jalamandir where Lord Mahavira breathed his last. built of marble and sorrounded by a beautiful lake, it is a place of pilgrimage for the Jains.

Parasnath hill
231 kms from Gaya is one of the most sacred pilgrim centres for Jains. 22 Tirthankaras of the Jains attained salvation here.

Barabar Caves
50 kms from Gaya in neighboring Jenanabad district are the earliest examples of rock cut caves in the country. They find a mention in E.M Foster's magnum opus A Passage to india as marabar Caves. The seven rock cut Buddhist caves are located in a rugged yet picturesque landscape. Barabar is also famous as the place of origin of Ajivik sect.
