The area better known as a missile testing range is a beach lover's delight. Twice a day without fail, the tide creates a rare visual spectacle with the waves receding up to five kms away and then slowly returning. One can easily walk into its shallow depths. What adds to the attraction is the number of religious spots around the area like Remuna, famous for the Khirachora Gopinath temple, eight kms from Balasore. Some 40 kms further on is the Panchalingeshwar temple, atop Nilgiri hills, which has five lingams with springs flowing from them. The Lord Chandeshwar temple is 88 kms from Balasore.

At Chandipur tourists can hitch a ride on a fisherman's boat and reach the mouth of the river Budhabalanga or take a jeep ride along the beach when the waters recede. You can also comb the beaches picking up driftwood and shells. The beauty of the exposed bosom of the beach is further enhanced by the small red crabs.
